British Virgin Islands are a group of about fifty islands in the Caribbean, whose only 16 are inhabited. They are located east of the U.S. Virgin Islands. The largest islands are Tortola, Virgin Gorda, Anegada and Jost Van Dyke. Road Town, the capital and main city, is located on Tortola.
Virgin Gorda is known for its geological formations called the Baths. They are spherical granite rocks of volcanic origin scattered along the beach. These spectacular piles of gray rocks define delightful pools with emerald waters, white sand lined with shady palm trees. Here and there they form caves half submerged in the tide.
Tortola, the largest of the British Virgin Islands, pride themselves to preserve many natural areas of exception, as its dense tropical forests drowned in the mist of the Sage Montain or coraillien funds of Shark's Bay, on the north coast. Connected at Tortola by a bridge, Beef Island is home to one of the best mangrove in the Caribbean. Road Town, located on the island, is the capital of British Virgin Islands.
